In 2012, Tripathy wanted to attend the Mr. and Miss India pageant in hopes of meeting a literary agent from CAA, one of the many judges.
A college student, and unable to afford the ticket of entry, Tripathy entered the pageant as a contestant.
Impossibly, and unbeknownst to his parents, he won Mr. Photogenic and the official title.
He got to meet the judges afterward, wearing stage makeup, holding a bouquet of flowers, and wearing a sash that said Mr. India Global.
... he did not get signed to CAA that night.
Tripathy attributes his success in pageantry to his horrible Blue Steel which some judges may have misconstrued as a medical condition of the eye.
Starting in 2014, Tripathy became a co-chair of the event alongside CEO Jinnder Chohan and has since been a co-emcee with Revi Chohan.
