Sunny Tripathy is a Canadian Indian-American screenwriter who paid his way through UCLA with day jobs that included working at Jamba Juice, teaching at a Yeshiva Gedolah, and modeling for Indian grocery stores— which is not a joke.
His first television deal came after a general meeting at 20th CENTURY FOX, and his first feature script sold to TRISTAR after Ivan Reitman and Amie Karp took interest in his spec and came on board to produce.
The sale was notable and led to Tripathy developing projects with: Timur Bekmambetov, Lilly Singh, Cody Ko, Savan Kotecha, Jay Ellis, Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions, Bento Box, Court Five, and Titmouse Animation.
Despite the horrors of pitching over Zoom, Tripathy took out an original series with Will Arnett, Marc Forman, Austen Earl, and SONY TELEVISION during the pandemic. The pitch sold in the room and created a highly competitive bidding war before landing at AMAZON.
In 2022, Tripathy also closed deals with: SONY PICTURES ANIMATION for a feature, DREAMWORKS for an animated feature, and DISNEY— for a live-action feature based on IP.
He is repped at UTA, Iconoclast, and Lichter Grossman Nichols Adler.
